Antique Villeroy & Boch Mettlach earthenware dish 1562 Old Strasbourg / Alt Strassburg

Large oval Villeroy & Boch Mettlach serving platter, model 1562 "Vieux Strasbourg / Alt Strassburg". Stamped (green stamp) "Villeroy & Boch / Mettlach / Made in Saarland / 1562" and (debossed) "6c4". Villeroy & Boch reissued this model in the 1980s (brown stamp); this is a piece from the original series produced in the 1950s. Floral decoration (rose in the center) on an ecru background, gently scalloped edge, enhanced with a forest green line. Fine earthenware half-porcelain. Beautiful quality. In very (very) good condition: no accidents, no scratches or other signs of use, clean edge and heel, no stains or discoloration. A magnificent piece in exceptional condition. Dimensions: L 40 cm, W 26.5 cm.
