This is a really superb crystal glass bird dish which is beautifully observed and would make a stunning table centrepiece. In icy crystal clear french glass. Easily striking enough for a stand alone sculptural piece, but it could be used for a beautiful flower arrangement too. It looks particularly good near a window where the sunlight shining catches it. A highly attractive decorators piece, the face in particular is really striking. A stylised bird; a pheasant perhaps or other game bird with long tail feathers. A wonderful display item which would be an ideal gift for any art glass collector particularly if they love french and/or clear glass. It might even be the perfect prop for your theatre or tv production. It is signed on the base; etched with the makers logo art de vannes france. This glass bird is a rare piece, even in france, especially in this large size and in this condition. I have seen them before but they usually have chips to the beak and/or tail but this one is in great shape. Approx measurements: Length - 53 cm / 21 in. Width - 8 cm / 3 in. Height - 10 cm / 4 in. In excellent vintage condition; with the tiniest bubble in the base. There are no cracks, chips or other damage.
