Antique gilded mirror with sculpted pediment – Napoléon III period – 19th century

Superb antique mirror in the Napoléon III style, richly decorated, dating from the late 19th century. Elegant vertical rectangular mirror, framed with a rich carved and gilded wooden decoration. The openwork pediment, particularly intricate, features an important rococo decoration composed of scrolls, foliage, flowers, and relief floral motifs, typical of the Napoléon III taste. The frame is finely adorned all around with relief floral friezes, with sculpted corner brackets at the lower angles. The old gilding has a beautiful original patina, with slightly browned tones from time, giving the whole piece a lot of character and authenticity. The glass appears to be old (with slight marks and spots from the backing visible depending on the angle), which enhances the charm of the piece. Overall good condition, with wear, small losses of gilding, and visible signs of age, some alterations and dirt on the pediment, the mirror backing slightly pitted in places, structure sound and stable. Item sold as is, in accordance with the photographs.
