Double-sided Impressionist painting: watercolour + signed gouache

Hello, I am offering a gouache and a watercolour on thick paper by Henri JORDAN (1944-1996), a referenced and valued painter. These two works presented here back-to-back are housed in a single, beautifully crafted wooden frame. Photo No. 1: The front of this double-sided piece is a luminous and peaceful gouache, very balanced, depicting a garden and courtyard of a bourgeois house located in the south-east of France. In the background of this gouache, a large 19th-century building occupies the length of the scene. The subtlety of this work is evident in the contrast of light and shadow visible on the ground as well as on the façade of the house with white shutters. The projected shadows create a certain depth and allow for a relaxation of the passing time. Dimensions of the double-sided frame: 37 cm x 49 cm. Dimensions of the gouache: 27 cm x 36.5 cm. Photo No. 7: The reverse of this double-sided piece is a vertical watercolour, unsigned but with the utmost certainty attributed to the same painter. These two works correspond well to the favourite themes of Henri de JORDAN. One frequently finds these same colour palettes and landscapes in his works. This watercolour on paper, with subtle colours, represents a hamlet in the mid-mountains that could be located in the Drôme (France), one of the painter's residences in the latter part of his career. In the lower part of the work, one can see trees with dense, dark colours representing Nature, then at mid-height, lighter houses built by man, and finally in the upper third, a return to Nature in an atmospheric blur with mountains covered by a clear sky, softened in a floating morning mist.
