Description
19th century jewelry box from the art tramp movement. It was dedicated in 1896 to augustine. It opens onto a blue velvet interior topped with a mirror. The box also has a space dedicated to tie pins (sold with it). Its dimensions 26 cm width X 11 cm height X 18 cm depth for the record: “tramp art (literally “tramp art” or “vagabond art”), is an example of popular art combining wood sculpture and woodworking which appeared in the united states during the second half of the 19th century, and more particularly from the 1870s. It lasted until the 1940s, before declining. Traces of this art can also be found in europe during the same period.".
