Mid-Century Murano Sommerso bowl from Mandruzzato, 1960s

Murano glass sommerso bowl by luigi mandruzzato (italy), 1960s. "sommerso" is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. The bottom half of this bowl has a textured surface. The upper side is completely smooth. Colours: clear, yellow and fuchsia. Height: 9 cm; diameter: 15 cm. This piece is quite large, usually this type of bowls are smaller. Excellent vintage condition.
