For a century, this masterpiece of modern design, stemming from the Bauhaus artistic movement, has survived the passage of time and the succession of trends. Designed in 1928 by Marcel Breuer, iconic Hungarian designer of the 20th century, the Cesca is today considered one of the ten most significant chairs of this era, integrating the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It was while cycling in the German town of Dessau that the designer was inspired by the tubular steel frame of bicycle handlebars to create the Cesca, named in honor of his daughter, Francesca. First produced by Thonet, then by Gavina, and finally within the Knoll house, this iconic and timeless design adapts to any interior, ideal for bars, kitchens or dining spaces. We are here on a 70s edition of the S32 model, the bar chair version. The chrome tube is perfectly shiny and smooth with a few stitches on the side of the backrest which give it all its charm. The canework is impeccable, I nourished it to restore its shine.
