Rare and exquisite oval asparagus dish in Barbotine (majolica) pottery. Asparagus dishes illustrate the elegance of bourgeois dinners from the late 19th century, a time when each dish was served on specific crockery. A magnificent central relief of polychrome asparagus is framed by turquoise and yellow borders. A centrepiece for lovers of antique French ceramics. Ideal as a table centrepiece or for hanging, it adds a touch of historical elegance and colour. Oval serving dish for asparagus with a side compartment for sauces (hollandaise or vinaigrette). Decoration: A central bouquet of white asparagus with purple tips, in high relief, stands out against a background imitating a straw mat or serving cradle. The edge is adorned with a superb engobe glaze, featuring turquoise blue rococo scrolls, mustard yellow details, and reliefs of acanthus leaves. Circa 1880-1900 (Victorian/Belle Époque). Ceramic with a white body and bright polychrome glazes. It exhibits the characteristic crazing (fine lines in the glaze) that attests to its age and gives it an authentic patina. Dimensions: 40 X 24 X 4 cm. As these are antique objects, they may show signs of wear. The photographs are an integral part of the description and condition of the item.
