Oil on canvas by jean paul guinegault dating from the 70s. In beautiful condition, no lack or tearing. Jean-paul guinegault was born at 7 rue jules chaplain, in paris in the 6th arrondissement, on january 4, 1918. His parents were bretons, originally from rennes. His father, georges, had worked on the violin, loved operas and poetry and was especially passionate about art drawing, especially for antique and live model. He had been admitted to the beaux-arts in paris. An excellent portraitist and nude specialist, he was a recognized artist. His father made him work painting with him. His son shows a real talent for still life and interesting qualities as a colorist. On the artistic level, jean-paul guinegault is part of the filiation of so-called classical painting. His teachers, louis roger and rené jaudon taught him his unwavering technique and the play of values. He masters the drawing and perspective that give his paintings solidity and relief. Colorist, he tames the light and the people of shadows: gouaches are marked by vigor. The material (soils, stones, objects and flowers), the water (which absorbs and reflects the reflections by soothing the mind), the area that coats the forms, bypasses the masses, opens panoramic roads where the eye engages, these are the three privileged elements of the painter. His most perfect success undoubtedly lies in the still lifes executed with knife and brush broken to capture the vibration of flowers and fruits and that the perfection of the color highlights. "sociétaire des indépendants de paris", "sociétaire des artistes français", selected for the france-signature prize, jean-paul guinegault has exhibited quite often at the ror volmar galleries, in burgundy and paris. He died in june 2009.
