Biography: Augustin tschinkel (1905-1983), studied at the academy of fine arts in prague and became in the 1920s member of the artists' group "die gruppe progressiver künstler" founded by franz wilhelm seiwert and heinrich hoerle (with other members like otto freundlich, gerd arntz and august sander, cologne). He collaborated with "das gesellschafts- und wirtschaftsmuseum" under the directorship of gerd arntz. His one-man show "augustin tschinkel. Grafiek, illustraties, typografie“ was shown at haags gemeentemuseum, den haag. Tschinkel is an author of numerous books and articles about art and design.
