Superb asparagus dish in slipware dating from the late 19th century, typical of French naturalistic ceramic production. The piece consists of a large platter with two integrated handles, featuring a ribbed inclined stand designed to hold drained asparagus. The relief decoration, very finely modelled, evokes a vegetal weaving in water green and ivory tones, enhanced with green shades and slight touches of claret imitating the ties of asparagus bundles. The glaze exhibits beautiful effects of texture and depth, characteristic of slipware productions from the late 19th century. An object that is both utilitarian and highly decorative, perfect as a centrepiece, in a characterful kitchen, or in a collection of antique ceramics. A rare and sought-after piece for enthusiasts of antique tableware and slipware.
