Vintage signed oil painting and unique artwork depicting a scene of a ship anchored in the harbor. Beautiful oil painting by the famous artist florence wilkins furst dimensions: 23.5 inches high X 27.5 inches wide excellent condition and beautiful high quality wooden box. Florence wilkins furst was born in 1885 in delavan, wisconsin. She studied at rockford college in illinois with george oberteuffer, ivan olinsky, violet oakley and lucie hartrath. She also studied in paris. Furst was a member of the chicago art club, the rockford art association, the studio guild, the american artists professional league and the national arts club, and exhibited at the chicago art club; allied artists of america; century of progress, chicago, 1933; society of the four arts, palm beach, florida; new york public library; springfield museum of art, illinois; and the 1939 world's fair in new york. Won awards from the all-illinois society of fine arts (gold); the rockford art association in 1936; and the palm beach art league in 1939. His work is in the state museum in springfield, illinois. He died in 1955 in freeport, illinois. Florence wilkins furst studied at rockford college in illinois with lucie hartrath, violet oakley, george oberteuffer, and ivan olinsky. He later studied in paris. Furst received awards from the illinois society of fine arts, the rockford art associate (1936), and the palm beach art league (1939).
