Vase signed Delmotte. Perfect condition. Dimensions 14 cm X 21 cm high. Blue ceramic. 1960s/70s. Biography. Michel Delmotte is a French ceramic artist born in 1942. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg in 1956, where he later became a professor from 1972 for the following 33 years. Teaching played a crucial role in the artist's career, covering drawing, ceramics, and painting. Once he obtained his diploma from the Decorative Arts, he joined the ceramic workshop of Frédéric Watteel. In 1961, he established his own workshop in Strasbourg and began producing pottery with a utilitarian purpose. He then envisioned a space that, in addition to creation, could host exhibitions. In 1964, this project came to fruition, allowing him to showcase his works for the first time. In 1984, Michel Delmotte was appointed a Member of the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva. Never relying on his achievements, he continued his research and, towards the end of his career, devoted himself to glass techniques, from blowing to engraving and thermoforming. His works are now present in museums around the world, starting with the Museum of Modern Art in Strasbourg, Mulhouse, and the FRAC Alsace André Malraux Contemporary Art Space in Colmar.
