Originally designed as a dynamic multi-level piece, this 1960s bookshelf has undergone a thorough 23-hour restoration process. We spent 12 hours addressing its structural integrity and cleaning decades of wear, followed by 4 hours of precise sanding to reveal its deep, rich wood grain. To honour its organic nature, we applied 4 coats of pure tung oil over 7 hours of meticulous finishing work, ensuring a smooth, velvety patina that highlights the dark, smoky, chocolate, and mahogany undertones of the wood. Its design language is delightfully subtle: neatly joined corners and varied shelf heights accommodate everything from vinyl record boxes to art books. The finishing touch lies in its very foundation: a hidden, recessed geometric base, finished in a warm, muted mustard yellow hue. This small touch of colour acts as an anchor, giving the heavy, majestic wooden frame a light, slightly floating modernist aesthetic. The "Echo Shelf" is paired with Vetyverio by Diptyque, a fragrance that perfectly balances a raw, dense, smoky earthiness with a bright, unexpected spark.
