Sumptuous 18th century brass "star" secretary!

Beware of falling in love! Small in size, made of sumptuous wood and impeccable craftsmanship, it especially has these incredible inlaid brass stars in boule style! The fluted uprights end in spinning top feet fitted with a collar and a gilded brass shoe (all present) at the bottom, and on a wide gilded brass cornice at the top. The upper part, where the first drawer is located, is framed by these magnificent brass stars, inlaid in a darker mahogany plate, which makes them stand out. There are 8 on each flat surface, plus 3 on each flat surface at the back of the piece of furniture. The drawers are rimmed in brass, fitted with their lock (without key) and their original handles (apart from the one on the right of the last drawer at the bottom, added and slightly different). They are darker than the body of the piece of furniture and the contrast is quite striking. The flap opens with its lock and a key (added and perfectly functional) and reveals its brown morocco leather (rather rare shade) as well as a circus of drawers quite charming. Three on each side, with original pull handle (one of them had a lock that was condemned formerly). The one in the middle hides the inevitable... Secret drawer! Which sinks into the furniture and can be removed with the tips of your fingers. The st anne marble is from the 18th century but added. 2 cm was missing from the back a wooden strip painted in imitation marble to ensure visual continuity. Some traces of wear, friction but it is very dense, very solid and in superb general condition. Perfectly functional with its original metal mechanism which supports the top very well. This piece of furniture has above all a "hell of a face", I had never seen one with stars like this, and so well proportioned. H: 137.5 cm. W: 63 cm. P: 34.5 cm!
