A white murrine 'occhi' vase designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1960, made by Venini, Venice around 1960. Acid-etched signature 'venini Murano Italia' on the base (almost invisible). In 1921, Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin founded a company that would become world-famous. Under the artistic direction of Vittorio Zecchin, the company Vetri Soffiati Cappellin Venini & C. Established itself as the prodigy of the 1920s, this golden decade. Over the decades, countless internationally renowned artists — such as Napoleone Martinuzzi, Carlo Scarpa, Tomaso Buzzi, Fulvio Bianconi, Tuni Zuccheri, Thomas Stearns, Toots Zynski, and Ettore Sottsass — have enthusiastically collaborated with Venini, each bringing new and remarkable techniques and creations. Venini's works have been awarded numerous prizes. Even today, Venini remains one of the most prestigious artistic glass manufacturers in Murano.
