2944 – box of 12 ercuis oyster forks – silver-plated early 20th century, in their used brown leather-style box with gray interior, these 12 forks with a silver-plated model from ercuis marked gv in good condition. Unstitched silvering with micro-scratches from normal use to be cleaned to revive their shine. Square goldsmith's mark with the letters oe and a centaur, ercuis in full on the forks and the box. For information, created in 1867 in ercuis in the department of oise (france) by a young priest (father adrien céleste pillon 1814 -1884), this religious goldsmith company was bought on april 14, 1885 by léon durand (ex -director of the clichy crystal works) who opened a first store in paris in 1880. Georges maës (1842-1939), his cousin, signed an agreement in 1886 with this factory which developed in the provinces and abroad using the hallmark of its clichy crystal factory with a centaur that became the symbol of its brand for 3 generations producing luxury goldwork highly appreciated by a wealthy clientele.
