PLANA table – Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli, 1970

Model table Plana, designed by Giancarlo Piretti and produced by Castelli in Italy in the 1970s. Features: Dimensions: H72 X W96 X D96. Central structure in extruded aluminium. Joining pieces in cast aluminium. 4-legged base in solid metal. Steel axes. 4 pivoting quarter-circle tops. Beige/cream finish. Independent rotation system for each element. Function: The 4 quarters pivot around the central axis to form a complete round table or remain folded in a compact configuration. Condition: Stable structure. Visible oxidation on the steel axes. Signs of use on the aluminium. One quarter is stuck since the last time I unfolded it, and I do not want to force it or risk making a mistake. No structural cracks observed.
