This superb oval bowl is made of silver-plated metal by the silversmith Charles Halphen. Halphen was established in Paris at the beginning of the 19th century. He created the Alfenide alloy, developed in 1850 and later marketed by Christofle. The Halphen company was acquired by Christofle in 1888. This is a small serving dish, perfect for presenting appetizers, sauces, or side dishes. It can also be used as a finger bowl. It bears the hallmark "15 - HALPHEN CH - 2088". In good overall condition, with some minor scratches from use. This piece measures 15 cm in diameter and 10.5 cm in height.
