This modular bench from the "Basis" series was designed by Klaus Franck and Werner Sauer for the renowned German company Wilkhahn in the 1980s. It stands out for its iconic architectural and modernist design, characterised by a clean geometric silhouette and a unique asymmetrical configuration combining seating and functional space. The structure is made of robust injected steel and high-quality metal profiles, resting on a heavy, graphic base typical of German industrial rigor. The configuration features two suspended seats with firm comfort, fully upholstered in their original black leather, as well as an integrated side table serving as a linking coffee table. The official stamp of the manufacturer Wilkhahn is present under the structure, attesting to its authenticity and high-end German provenance. The overall condition is excellent, reflecting careful use over the decades. The high-quality black leather has been fully nourished and retains superb suppleness as well as a beautiful natural patina, with no tears or loose stitching. The metal structure and side table remain perfectly sound and functional. This bench fits seamlessly into a modernist, minimalist, or contemporary interior. It ideally finds its place in a prestigious entrance hall, a professional office, a concept store, or a large, uncluttered living room, offering both an original seating solution and a strong visual presence.
