The artist spent his childhood in North Africa and graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Oran. He moved to Paris in 1948 and participated in group exhibitions in various Parisian Salons such as the Salon of Young Painting, the Salon des Indépendants, and the Salon d’Automne. He exhibited in the largest Parisian galleries such as Galerie Suillerot and Galerie Romanet, and also in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, Zurich, and Hamburg. Since 1960, he has lived in a small village in Vexin, near Auvers-sur-Oise. Jacques Daufin’s paintings are part of prestigious collections in the United States, South Africa, South America, Asia, and throughout Europe. Museums and foundations that own his works include the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Museum of Sao Paulo, the Museum of Riyadh, the Firestone Foundation, and the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation. His work can be compared to the French Expressionist movement. His landscapes are divided into geometric shapes with great sensitivity in the use of palette.
