This is a magnificent antique 3/4 liter sandstone bottle from erven lucas from hetlootsje, amsterdam, c.1870- 1900. Lucas bols is a dutch company specialized in the production, distribution, sale and marketing of alcoholic beverages. In 1575, the bols family opened their distillery t lootsje ("the little shed") in amsterdam. The brewery refers, of good reputation, to the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world. In the 1600s, the walls of amsterdam were extended to wrap around the brewery that became a sustainable part of the city. During the 1800s the family enjoyed enormous success and wealth. He used much of this wealth to travel the world and import new and exotic spices, with which they would create some of europe's most imaginative and successful spirits. It continues to operate today, as one of the largest and most diverse brewers in europe. This particular bottle was produced in the late 19th century in the early years of the 20th and more than likely contained gin. Subsequent bottles can be recognized by their thick and resistant glaze as well as by their clear and complete stamp of the manufacturer. In addition, in later examples, less information was included in the stamp, as the bottle was also adorned with one or more labels describing the contents. The bottles were available in three sizes - 1/2 liter, 3/4 liter and 1 liter. Dimensions: diameter 7.5 cm height 27.5 cm. These objects are second-hand, old, vintage.
