The vintage Zemmour rug is an authentic rug from the Aït Zemmour tribe of Morocco. What characterizes this rug is the use of a different set of geometric patterns on a natural colored area, using only a few main colors. The end result is truly unique and beautiful. There are 10 different tribes in the Zemmour. The name Zemmour comes from the Berber word "azemmur," which means olive. Before settling in their current location in northwest Morocco, they were originally nomadic or semi-nomadic tribes, moving across the low plateaus north and west of the Middle Atlas Mountains, which were ideal for livestock breeding and agriculture.
