In the late 1950s, the Milanese architect Vico Magistretti designed furniture for the Carimate club-house that combines Italian rustic vocabulary—raw wood, woven straw—with a decidedly modern silhouette. This low armchair embodies the tension between rusticity and simplicity: a solid wood structure with slightly curved cylindrical legs, curved armrests, and a seat and backrest made of hand-woven straw. The patina of the wood and the natural texture of the straw tell the story of a piece that has endured the decades without losing its character. Items from this period, produced by the Cassina company, have seen a marked resurgence of interest in the Italian design market in recent years. Overall good condition, with some micro-surface marks consistent with age, manufacturer's label preserved under the seat.
