Large art deco vase in uranium-bearing dichroic green glass

This sublime Art Deco vase is made of dichroic green glass, known as uraline. It dates from the 1910s-1920s. It is a magnificent shell-shaped vase made of molded glass. In an Art Deco style, it is decorated with a lake landscape animated by stylized reeds and water lilies. The glass is satin-finished and acid-etched. Uraline, or uranium glass, is a uranium glass with a characteristic green-yellow color. Uraline glass was known from the 19th century and its production was banned in the 1940s. Many objects were made of uraline during this period for the originality of its dichroic yellow-green color. Uraline glass is reactive to blue light and then becomes fluorescent. In good general condition, note traces of the firing mold and chips on the inside edge of the neck. Dimensions: 25 cm high X 12 cm diameter.
