Superb English-made sideboard dating from the 19th century. Made of solid pine. This piece of furniture has a very British look indeed. Beneath its sober exterior, it is in fact very elegant. There are indeed many small, carefully crafted details such as the moldings around the opening of the two upper drawers, the ornaments at each corner of the front of the two main doors, the slight curves of the top, and those of the uprights, barely perceptible. In the end, this piece of furniture has a very pure but also worked design. It is made of beautiful solid pine, which revealed all its depth after a good sanding and a coat of varnish. Completely renovated, it can therefore find its place even in a bedroom. But its very compact dimensions also allow it to be placed in an entrance hall. The two doors open onto an original solid wood shelf. They close thanks to an elegant locking mechanism on the left and a spring latch on the right, which produces that famous and very addictive sound each time it is opened/closed. On the sides, we can see the traces of the dowels which reveal the traditional assembly method of the furniture and which add an authentic charm to the piece of furniture. A drawer bottom has been changed, there are traces of wear and some small repairs on the bottom of the sides, which is common on furniture without plinth. To remedy this, four small plastic glides have been added (easy to remove). Otherwise, it is stable, very solid and in excellent general condition... And the perfect size. L: 88 cm. D: 47 cm. H: 88 cm.
