Victorian-style snuff box in the shape of a miniature shoe, handcrafted in Britain, early 19th century (1820-1850, United Kingdom). Tin framework covered with lacquered papier-mâché. Hinged lid in perfect working condition, wooden sole. The surface was probably originally decorated and adorned with patterns and mother-of-pearl inlays on the lid, typical of this type of object. However, this one, having nearly two centuries of existence, has somewhat endured the trials of time, now giving it a unique matte black patina, a testament to its history. Originally used to hold pipe tobacco to prevent it from drying out and to preserve its aromas during short trips, this object can now decorate a desk or shelf, or serve as a jewellery box, a keepsake, or for all types of small items. Manufactured in Great Britain, early 19th century (1820-1850). Height: 4 cm. (/1.57 in.) Width: 12.5 cm. (/4.9 in.) Depth: 3.5 cm. (/1.38 in.) Weight: 50 g. (/1.76 oz.) A memento from another era, this object may show some signs of wear from time.
