Rare and important African rosewood sideboard from the 'Programma S11' series, one of the most emblematic works of Angelo Mangiarotti for La Sorgente del Mobile, produced in the early 1960s. The 'Programma S11' series marked a turning point in Italian furniture history: a modular collection designed for contemporary living, based on an essential and architectural language, where every technical and constructive detail becomes an expressive element. This sideboard features a pure horizontal volume, three doors, and a column of four drawers with recessed handles carved directly from the solid wood, eliminating decorative superfluity in favour of functional and integral design. The absence of metal or applied elements highlights the continuity of the surfaces, and the deep, warm grain of the African rosewood gives the piece a sculptural elegance. Produced by La Sorgente del Mobile, a company known for architectural and material experimentation in the 1960s, this sideboard reflects the close connection between rational design and high-level Brianza cabinetmaking. It is an object of extraordinary purity and rigour, synthesising the essence of Italian modernism: sober, refined, structurally intelligent, and with a unique plastic presence. Excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age.
