Dining table from the ‘post modern’ series, designed by italian architect & designer piero lissoni and produced by glas italia in italy during the 1970’s. The top is a transparent glass on which 4 metal threaded rings were glued. The molded and shaped borosilicate glass legs are screwed onto the rings. This is an exceptional piece and a real conversation starter that looks very light and delicate but weighs over 100 kilogram thanks to the 1, 5 cm thick glass plate. Glas italia, founded in 1972 in the territory of brianza, is born from a great family tradition of glass processing and produces hi-end furniture accessories, partition walls and glass doors drawn by big names like patricia urquiola and shiro kuramata. The post modern series by lissoni were made in rectangular and round shape as well, but this is the biggest square edition available. Easily seats 8 people. The table has only a few very light, superficial scratches in the top and legs and oxidation traces on top of the metal rings, further it is in very good, original condition.
