Original and unique, I created this table lamp with a ceramic base in a lovely burgundy red made by Verceram, signed and numbered 5178. This ceramic piece most likely dates from the 1950s. Born a second time after the war in Montreuil, the Verceram factory distinguished itself throughout the following two decades. It became known in the 1950s for its utilitarian pieces with innovative curves and decorations. Production was industrialised, the pieces were moulded, and differentiation was established through the variety of glazes. The most famous are the iridescent black and white, red and white, orange and white, and to a lesser extent, red and tobacco brown. The pieces are glazed with care and guarantee a very high level of finish. Le Corbusier is said to have had a particular fondness for this quality industrial production, which embodied the "new spirit" he envisioned and worked towards throughout his life. The factory ceased operations in 1971. Information about the Verceram lamp. Indoor light fixture, except for damp areas and children's rooms. Lamp cord, woven textile cable, gold colour, 1.80 m, made in Italy. Light fixture class 2, IP20, 220V. Socket for E14 bulb, bulb not included.
