Rare, beautiful small antique glazed porcelain planter from the 19th century, circa 1860–1890. Made in Germany, Saxony/Thuringia, numbered under the base in blue brushstroke on the biscuit, with another indecipherable mark near one foot, typical of Saxon and Thuringian workshops from the second half of the 19th century (Sitzendorf, Volkstedt, Dresden…) inspired by Meissen. Rectangular shape resembling a basket, richly decorated with three-dimensional putti holding polychrome floral garlands made of applied paste, entirely hand-painted. Pretty pastel colours: pink, blue, pale yellow, with garlands of multicoloured flowers. Dimensions: approximately 23 cm in maximum length, 14-15 cm in maximum depth with the exterior decoration, 11 cm in height. Interior dimensions: 15.5 cm in length, 8.5 cm in depth at the opening. Overall condition is fair, with signs of age, accidents and losses to the flowers, likely a missing handle whose base has been discreetly smoothed, remnants of gilding on the edges. No cracks or chips on the body. A decorative piece in the German Rococo Revival style of the 19th century, charming and delicate. Weight: approximately 1.6 kg.
