What An ichthyomorphic monoxyl polynesian plateau Fichtre, if it bites I don't want it. But no, it doesn't bite. Monoxyl means that the object has been carved from a single piece of wood without gluing or fixing any additional piece. It can be seen as a feat (oh well I thought it was a set) As for ichthyomorph, it means fish-shaped, but I preferred ichthyomorph, it's more canon. And then it fits better to this exceptional object in fact. Because it is an exceptionally large plateau, while the few you see here and there are barely a third of its surface. In addition it is well proportioned and well worked. It is therefore a beautiful object that can either serve as a tray (since it does not bite), or decoration. My suggestion: sand and varnish it. In the last photo, I put you next to another polynesian monoxyl ichthyomorphic tray (did you understand this time?) which is varnished. Be careful the other I do not sell it. I keep it because I am lucky to have it (so I too am varnished). To varnish it, it would be enough to sand it with fine sandpaper and then finish it at triple zero. Then apply a varnish 'worktop', intended specifically to be in contact with food. (food my dear watson!). If you do this work, this tray will become a little your work, and will become one of the most beautiful objects of your interior. The wood looks like teak, it is a hardwood that could also be a native species of local forests such as tou, tamanu or autera'a ma'ohi (5% reduction to whoever tells me how it is pronounced).
