A gorgeous, early teak cupboard from rajasthan, in fine, solid condition. It has lots of interesting elements, lovely bright, intact tile work and small painted glass panels, depicting peacocks above and geometric designs below, these are now showing their age a little. In addition, there are old mirror panels to the lower half of the doors. The sides and back have original ochre paintwork and the brass handles are authentic too. The double doors open to two separate compartments, each with two shelves. The top has a balustraded surround, a typical and traditional feature on cupboards such as this, whilst there is carved detail to the lower edge. The woodwork is a dark teak, with the patina attributable to its age and characterful knocks, scuffs and scratches. There is a small section of the fretwork detail to one of the front legs missing as shown. Altogether, a substantial and very attractive piece, that’s a rare find. It would make a great focal point for any room. Dimensios: height 122cm width 110cm depth 50cm shelf height 41cm & 30cm.
