Trumeau around 1900.

This trumeau from the very beginning of the 20th century has a crazy look. Work that can be compared to that of the Faubourg St Antoine in Paris (where the best craftsmen came together to reproduce old furniture in a traditional way), it offers a mirror in the lower part (the mirror is more recent, and therefore in perfect condition). state), framed by a superb wooden and gilded stucco frame, reproducing classic motifs at the corners, a beautiful row of piasters on the edge of the mirror and floral motifs which extend along the gilded leaf uprights. The trumeau part, above, offers a beautiful floral rosette, surrounded by a golden star-shaped garland itself punctuated with small bouquets of isolated flowers which respond to the imposing one in the middle. All of these decorations were hand carved and gilded as well. As a result, the work is superb: very fine and very airy. Finally, a beautiful golden cornice tops it all against a backdrop of woodwork. We still have the two old nails fixed on the top of the trumeau which allow it to be fixed to the wall. The back is paneled in solid wood for the mirror part and in solid wood for the rest. The trumeau part, made of solid wood, has moved a little with the temperature differences and we can see a clear and narrow crack at the level of the bouquet. We also, therefore, have a little lifting on the sides. But all this is quite anecdotal and reinforces the charm of the mirror without affecting its solidity or its beauty. A very pretty room, very bright, which will go wonderfully with a most modern interior.
