This broken duchess is composed of three elements, namely a footrest, a small armchair, and a large beech bergère with a re-champis finish. This large bergère, caned on the seat and back, flares upwards and is carved with acanthus leaf decorations, with ribbon detailing for the latter, resting on turned and fluted legs. The festooned belt is adorned with a frieze and carved rosettes. The armrests are dressed with olive fabric and trimmings. The second bergère, with a smaller back, is crafted in the same manner. It is worth noting that the sides of each bergère feature double caning. Finally, the footrest, or tablet, in a sub-trapezoidal shape, is also caned and rests on four similar legs. The belt also presents festooning and carved rosette motifs. Once assembled, these three elements form a beautiful and significant broken duchess. Functional and timeless, this broken duchess will appeal to lovers of antique and finely crafted furniture. ******** Period: 2nd Half of the 19th Century. Excellent condition. Re-champis finish. Delivery possible in France and internationally. Dimensions: Length: 185 cm. Width: 71 cm. Height: 94 cm. Seat height: 32.5 cm.
