Lid: Enameled earthenware representing two stylized doves facing each other, with green tones and touches of white, surrounded by a cracked gold rim. Special feature of this model, the legs are gilded. Body: Blackened wooden box, lined with green felt on the inside, as well as under the box and the lid. Dimensions: Length 27 cm, width 10 cm, height 6 cm. Condition: Used condition with some chips. A refined and rare object in these colors. Born in 1923, Mithé Espelt is a ceramic artist based in the south of France. Her grandfather introduced her to the upper echelons of the artistic and intellectual world where she rubbed shoulders with Jean Hugo, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Christian Bérard and many others. Mithé exhibited at the Galerie La Roue in Vallauris alongside the greatest ceramicists of the time. Each piece created was handmade, reflecting her commitment to quality and passion for artistic expression. Despite her success, she remained relatively discreet and chose not to sign her works, letting her work speak for itself. Her legacy is preserved today through the continued appreciation and admiration of her art, which remains a testament to her talent and creativity.
