Large portrait of a young man, seated on a chair and holding a book in his left hand. The gaze is slightly to the side. This oil on canvas is unsigned and undated, and the character is to be identified. This old painting dates from the early 19th century, during the Charles X period, Restoration, around 1820. In remarkable condition for a painting that has survived two centuries, the canvas is on its original wooden stretcher and is enhanced by its period frame in wood and stucco, in the Napoléon III style. The canvas, which is in very good condition, just slightly slack, shows no signs of restoration and does not exhibit significant signs of wear. The colours are still fresh, making this portrait very vibrant. Although shipping is only possible via Colissimo, I recommend delivery for this item. Visible signs of age: uniform patina, slight cracks typical for a work of this period, and some missing stucco on the frame.
