Pair of modernist Scandinavian chairs by Yngve Ekström, Sweden 1956

Very beautiful pair of iconic chairs from the Scandinavian modernist movement around 1960. "Gracell" model by the famous Swedish designer Yngve Ekström, published by Gemla since 1956. The structure is made of very warm beech wood in honey tones, fine and very airy, supporting a seat made of twisted natural straw woven in a pattern known as "enveloping" (starting from the four corners). This configuration makes the seat very robust, and the presented pair shows no signs of wear, breakage, or loosening of the strands. Height at the centre of the backrest is 80 cm, at the seat level 45 cm, width and depth 46 cm. In superb condition, these chairs will be a hit in a kitchen as well as in a bedroom or a large dressing room.
