Decorative illustration by René Binet, 1902 edition. Superb illustration on the theme of a perfume shop/toy shop, in vibrant colors. A beautiful piece for framing. In very good condition, signed, with a few small tears and stains along the edges. 45 X 33 cm. René Binet (1866-1911) created the monumental gate on the Place de la Concorde for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris, and the reconstruction of the Printemps department stores. In his masterful work "Esquisses décoratifs" (Decorative Sketches), he explains his approach, inspired by Goethe's "Theory of Colors" and the work of the German biologist Ernst Haeckel.
