Shallow dish in glazed earthenware. Floral decoration, executed freehand in a traditional palette of blue, green, and brown on a slightly ivory cream background. The manganese hatching, the large stylised leaves, and the brown clay left exposed on the reverse testify to popular ceramics. The absence of a mark does not allow for a certain attribution. However, the technique, the clay, the turning of the reverse, the colour palette, and the decorative vocabulary link this plate to the traditional productions of Transylvania, particularly from the cultural area of Korond (Corund) and the Szeklerland, an important centre of popular pottery since the 17th century. In good antique condition with a lovely patina of use. Original glaze showing a fine network of crazing and small mineral inclusions integrated into the glaze during firing. Some wear and small chips at the edge. Raw turned reverse, with the possibility of hanging (see photos). Diameter 19.5 cm, height 4.5 cm. Popular decorations transcend the centuries because they have never sought to follow trends.
