Description
This three-branched emerald green slip candlestick is a very beautiful piece, very decorative, which will not leave anyone indifferent, and which is the result of meticulous and surely complicated artisanal work. Although not signed (which is surprising for such a piece), in comparison with other candlesticks presenting the same technique (braiding, strips with four fine coils) and the same color of enamelling, we can attribute it to almost certainly to a ceramist from Vallauris in the 1950s. Perhaps even to Hubert Pernin who signed other very similar pieces. I cleaned it carefully (soapy water, toothpick, brush and fine brush) and it took me a lot of time: in addition to the wax, it was covered in dust that had been encrusted for years in every corner! It still presents well for its age, but has a few accidents: several chips or small jumps on the green enameling (see photos), and it may have undergone a repair at the level of the braided ring at the very top of a bobèche. Indeed, we detect a fine crack, but if this is the case, the repair has been very well done because it is very barely visible, you really have to have your nose on it to see it. This candlestick measures 23 cm in height, 23 cm in width, 10 cm in maximum depth (at the base), the strips of 4 coils measure 2.5 cm wide, the bobèches measure approximately 4.5 cm in diameter.
