Pair of "Bergère" Armchairs in Mahogany, Empire Period – Early 19th Century

Pair of Empire Bergères in solid mahogany. Each armchair features a generously padded straight backrest with a mahogany band, sculpted in the centre with a relief decoration of flowers and scrolls within a diamond shape. The high armrests rest on front legs that are also sculpted in relief. The rear saber legs are turned outward for added stability. The slightly curved apron is shaped with a rectangular carving of flowers and scrolls. The restored structure is in perfect condition; however, the original studded velvet upholstery and the seat cushion are original. ******** Period: Early 19th century.
