Bentwood armchair n°18 by Fischel

Bent wooden armchair n° 18 produced by the Fischel company in Niemes (Bohemia) between 1890 and 1910. Beautiful condition of the wood as well as the cane design, very different from the usual canework on this type of seat. The top of the front legs is finished with small turned wooden capitals. A paper label from the manufacturer is present under the seat. It was after the thonet company's patents expired in 1869 that various competitors appeared on the bentwood furniture market. Fischel and Köhn are the best known and most productive, not hesitating to take inspiration or even copy certain models published by thonet. Fischel starts in Germany then will open a factory in France in Alsace. The company was sold after the death of Alexander Fischel in 1895, but it retained the same name, which had already become a guarantee of quality. Seat height: 46cm.
