R40 wardrobe by Pierre Chapo in solid elm, France, 1970. An extremely rare version of the R40 cabinets. Custom made for a client's office in the 1970s. To our knowledge, only one pair was produced. Signed by Pierre Chapo on the bottom. The wardrobe can be closed as it is equipped with a lock. The original key is present. The use of large pieces of solid elm gives the cabinets a sense of calm and naturalness. The wood features beautiful grains and patterns that stand out on the large surfaces on all sides. The wide, slender legs have an unusual shape but perfectly balance the design, both visually and physically. Perfect for office use, or combined as a small sideboard, or even as a bedside table. A true collector's piece for lovers of Pierre Chapo.
