Leica iif red dail in perfect condition with leitz elmar f 3, 5/50mm screw mount lens. With original leather etui, instruction manual and purchase certificate of 1956. Although the manuel mentions iiic this is the iif model as mentioned on the purchase certificate. All 100% original and in mint a(+) condition. Recently serviced by professional photography shop. No cla needed. Smootly working dails and diaphragm / shutter. Serie number 821026. The screw-mount leica iif is significantly smaller and lighter than any leica m camera and one of the least expensive ways to get into the leica system. The iif weighs only two-thirds as much as a typical leica m. It weighs only half as much as most dslrs, and less than one-third what a pro dslr weighs, and delivers better image quality. In the 1950s this was the most extraordinary camera ever developed, and was the most impossibly expensive dream camera that everyone wanted! Even at $3, 500, the new leica iif. Was so popular that is was on backorder for the first couple of years. Leica 50mm f/3.5 elmar lens (1925-1961) was world's first interchangeable lens for a 35mm camera. Better than any current 50mm lens, it collapses almost completely into the camera and pokes out less than 10mm (0.37mm)! Better than the newest lenses, it weighs only half as much as a summicron, and far better than any summilux, has no distortion or finder blockage.
