Antique romanian rug, about 100 years, handwoven in wool, red background and delicate flowers

Very old authentic romanian rug, beginning of the last century, handmade in wool. Elegant red background with beautiful flowers, very delicate. It is a very rare find, very old but in a good shape. This kind of fabric is called cerga in south romania and it was used for many purposes, practical when it is simple red and also decorative, when it was decorated with flowers and used as bed cover, wall tapestry or lateltly as a rug. It was very popular in 1900 -1945, after that rarely made and used as more elaborated models where made. This one is in perfect condition which is very rare, considering when it was made. 240x145cm.
