1970s French Folding Safari Chair in Teak, Black Leather and Brass

1970s French Hollywood Regency Folding Safari Chair in Solid Teak, Black Leather and Brass. Exceptional vintage French folding safari armchair from the 1970s, featuring an elegantly sculpted solid teak faux bamboo frame, original black leather sling upholstery, and refined brass hardware. This distinctive piece combines the exotic elegance of Hollywood Regency furniture with the practical sophistication of traditional campaign and safari chair design. The beautifully constructed solid teak frame features carefully carved bamboo-inspired detailing, decorative turned finials, and an attractive warm brown finish that highlights the natural character of the wood. The chair’s striking silhouette is defined by its architectural folding frame, featuring intersecting wooden supports and a suspended black leather seat and backrest. The original leather upholstery provides a sophisticated contrast to the rich teak wood, while the leather armrest straps, attached with brass fittings, enhance its authentic safari-inspired appearance. Decorative brass accents on the rounded wooden finials add an additional touch of refinement. The folding construction makes this chair both functional and visually distinctive, reflecting the influence of traditional portable campaign furniture on 20th-century European interior design. Its combination of sculptural form, natural materials, and rich vintage patina makes it an excellent addition to Hollywood Regency, mid-century modern, eclectic, and contemporary interiors.
