Cast iron andirons with character heads

Here is a nice pair of andirons decorated with a character's head. They are made of cast iron, covered with a black paint that is not original I imagine. The ideal would surely be to remove this paint, to strip them to find the patinated cast iron. They are in good structural condition, still very solid but do not hide their age: corrosion on the inside, as well as under missing paint on the outside. The corrosion is significant but does not endanger the andirons because the cast iron is very thick. They measure 30 cm in length, 19 cm in height at the head, 9 cm in width and are very heavy (probably not far from 3 kg each).
