Very rare lamp by Lilette and Gilbert Valentin, Les Archanges Vallauris. France, 1950s. Original zoomorphic table lamp from the 1950s by Les Archanges atelier, Lilette and Gilbert Valentin - Vallauris, France. Unique piece for its decor. Earthenware and tinted straw. Partial enameled decoration with gray areas, black and yellow granite. Height: 35 cm - width: 25 cm - depth: 18 cm. Height of the ceramic without socket: 21 cm - width: 12 cm. The small matching empty pocket is offered (16x13cm) is offered with the lamp. Excellent condition with some traces of time. Les Archanges Atelier was then one of the most famous and creative ceramics workshops in France, frequented by many artists, painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, including Pablo Picasso, Jacques Prévert, Georges Braque and Jean Cocteau (a close friend, who also suggested the name Les Archanges to the Valentin couple). Les Archanges are among the ten most highly rated French ceramicists today.
