Geneviève CHAPRONT (20th century) Snow, Boulevard Saint-Germain Oil on canvas 1950s Signed lower right Geneviève Chapront was born on October 30, 1909 in Rochefort-sur-Mer (Charente-Maritime). A student of her father, the painter and illustrator Henry Chapront (1876-1965), she debuted at the Salon d'Automne in 1933, under the name Khmelukova, then took up her name when she exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries between 1935 and 1946 and at the Salon des Femmes Peintres, notably in 1946. Close to the Communist Party, she participated in several exhibitions organized by the latter. She also exhibited at Henri Ramey's Populist Salon as well as at the Salon des Indépendants. Listed in the Bénézit and the dictionary of painters in Montmartre Dimensions: 46 X 39 X 2cm.
